SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO)
Accelerate planning and execution. Extend the horizon of your APO implementation.
What is SAP APO?
SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) is a set of supply chain planning tools that includes a fully integrated array of solutions that can be used to effectively plan and execute your company’s supply chain processes.
The tool was built to help organizations achieve high consistency in their internal processes, such as order generation, production planning, scheduling and sequencing, pricing, and shipping. APO is able to retrieve client demand information in real-time from retailers, which is then used to design triggers for demand. These triggers are very complex in nature and take into consideration variables such as production cycles and schedules for raw material delivery. This helps companies better forecast the amount and mix required to meet the client’s future demands.
SAP APO includes four modules:
The tool supports the following:
Enhanced planning collaboration on an operational and strategic level
Strengthened client and partner relationships
Improved communication between partners on all of the SCM stages, right from order generation to product shipment
Continual optimization and assessment of the company’s supply chain efficiency
Supply chain planners armed with SAP APO can effectively glean actionable information useful for predictive analytics to accelerate planning and execution. But companies that expand their global footprint may need to extend the horizon of their APO implementation so that their supply chains can successfully keep pace with their expansion initiatives and increased customer demands.
