UI Insights In Hybris

The multi-dimensional and multi-layered Hybris Commerce is built on widely adopted frameworks such as Spring, ZK Framework, Angular JS and JUnit. Hybris B2B and B2C accelerators promise to deliver outstanding customer experience.

With the Hybris 6 release, Responsive Web Design (RWD) is one of the main highlights. It is packaged with storefront extensions and accelerators that are based on responsive design principles, such as multi-device support (Dynamic Resize based on screen size, orientation, and OS), modern web libraries support and dynamic CSS. One no longer needs to create and maintain device specific layouts; hence there is exceptional user experience, cost reduction and flexibility for future development. Additional flexibility to customize and maintain templates is provided with the usage of Bootstrap framework. As a result, this release has targeted a bigger audience consisting of more mobile and tablet users. This huge volume of users translates to increased sales.

Business users can use the interactive graphical user interface, WCMS (web content management tool), to create and manage the content of their websites. The features supported by the WCMS include viewing and editing page metadata, component management, the creation of product and category pages, applying restrictions to pages and utilizing navigation management. Additional details on these features are seen below:

  • Component Management: Adding, editing and removing components from a page. Pages can be easily created with a simple drag and drop feature.
  • Page Management: The pages can be easily and quickly searched with page ids and page names.
  • Page Restrictions: Via restrictions, such as category, time and user group, one can control and deliver different content to users.
  • Navigation Management: Via navigation components such as Account Navigation, Category Navigation and Footer Navigation, you can provide an organized website structure for the users. Within the editor, you can make changes to nodes, navigation tree and to the overall navigation scope.
  • Shared Content: Components and features can be shared and re-utilized across the entire site.

There are three main aspects of the WCMS:

  • Content Lifecycle Management
  • Preview and Publishing
  • Content Storage

With content lifecycle management, the business users can create content by utilizing ready-to-use components, authorize and approve content and manually publish or automatically publish via workflow. Business users belonging to different user groups are created and thereby controlling the whole process right from creating the content to publishing the changes and previewing it on the live site. Different types of people in an organization such as the Developer, System Administration and Content and Product Managers can use SAP Hybris to create and maintain a site that promotes the company’s brand and identity.

In the preview and publishing aspect, business users are given the flexibility to preview the stage (which can be considered as the Draft version) of the content before publishing it and making it available on the live site, known as the Online/Final version. In the Content Storage via the WCMS, users obtain the ability to store varied and complex content types (such as HTML, images, etc.) in a single repository.

Another advantage business users obtain via WCMS is to apply restrictions to components and pages to display relevant content to users at the appropriate time. This implies that business users no longer need to be awake early morning if they want to make a banner available only from a particular time, such as 6 AM. Users can create a banner and by applying time restriction to it, they can control the online dates of any page and component.

Business users can also use the personalizing feature in WCMS to offer a customized shopping experience with targeted content. The users can use the same platform to maintain translations, thereby increasing the customer base and increase revenue.

With an experienced Hybris development team, we can provide unique customized solutions to cater to customer needs. And the best part is that Hybris provides frequent updates; with each release, Hybris aims at providing functional enhancements, security updates, better UI/UX capabilities.
